Causes.

Team BellInvesting in community is the key to change. We invest in local, national and international causes and non-profits through a variety of means. Below are a few which we believe and invest in:

Near Northwest Management District

With Kevin as a member of the Economic & Business Development Committee, and Cheryl part of the Safety & Security Committee, we explore ways to grow and protect this community. In 2001, the organization was created to address concerns about public safety and development within the near northwest boundaries. The District’s mission is to promote and coordinate economic growth, creation and beautification of area green spaces and promote and supplement public security.

Greater Inwood Partnership

In 2016 Kevin was elected President of the GIP. Comprised of dedicated volunteers representing 35 neighborhoods, we are devoted to developing, encouraging, promoting, beautifying, protecting, and unifying the Greater Inwood area in Near Northwest Houston.

MAMA – Museum Area Municipal Association

During our time as Museum District residents, we were involved with MAMA – a non-profit neighborhood association that for nearly 30 years has promoted activism and social interaction through its civic minded volunteers with the purpose of improving the neighborhood’s overall quality of life. In 2013, funds were raised for volunteers to give a much-needed facelift to Bell Park, a neighborhood gem nestled in the Museum District. We loved our time in this vibrant and eclectic part of town.

Candlelight Forest Civic Club, President

Kevin’s childhood home was in this neighborhood, and as an adult he wants to see this area continue to thrive. Kevin was elected President from 2013-2015, and Cheryl from 2016, their goal is to maintain the beauty and integrity of this area and continue cultivating community throughout the neighborhood. Candlelight Forest is a hidden treasure, home to a large family of peacocks, well-established trees and wonderful neighbors.

Big Brothers Big Sisters

In 2013, we began mentoring an eight-year-old Houston boy through BBBS. We look forward to our regular outings and spending time learning with our Little – we learn as much from him, as he does from us. We encourage those who can be great role models to check out the organization, and are happy to answer any questions.

Cheryl and I were honored to receive the 2015 “Big Couple of the Year” award for the Greater Houston area.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star is the largest Big Brothers Big Sisters agency in the world. As a donor-supported volunteer youth mentoring organization, the program has been placing caring adults in the lives of children in one-to-one mentoring relationships since 1927. Through the positive impact of those friendships, children with a Big Brother or Big Sister are more likely to graduate from high school and are less likely to begin using drugs, begin using alcohol or engage in negative conflict.

For Houston’s Kids

For Houston’s Kids is a collaborative network of service providers and a movement of volunteers who are committed to ensuring that every neighborhood, school and community of greater Houston produces whole and healthy kids. If you are looking to volunteer with kids, or are a service provider for kids, please check them out.

Living Water International

Everything begins with water. We have been involved with LWI since 2008 and recently traveled with them to El Salvador to drill our “wedding well” fully-funded by our friends and family.

This organization will always be near and dear to our hearts. Based in Houston, Texas LWI serves those in need world-wide. You can find out more about the water crisis, see their current and completed projects, and find information about upcoming events and trips by visiting www.water.cc
